Thrivent wants to make volunteering accessible to you even while you are spending time at home. Virtual volunteering makes it easy to help others from your couch or computer. Find out how you can help meet the needs in your community by visiting LiveGenerously.com. And, while you’re there, you can donate to organizations making an impact in your community. From now through June 30, 2020, Thrivent will be providing an extra $1 for every $2 donated for the first $1 million in donations made through Thrivent.com. Join us in making a combined impact of $1.5 million!*

Challenge Brings in Food and Funding
For the second year in a row, The Northeast TMN challenged members to combat food insecurity by using Thrivent Action Teams. If they collected at least 500 nonperishable items for a local food pantry, the region would reward their efforts with a $500 check to that benefiting organization. 40 Thrivent Action Teams across the region led to thousands of volunteer hours and the gathering of over 30,000 food items. As a result, the region made more than $20,000 in donations to food pantries.
Volunteers Step Up to Build Homes
In 2019, Northeast Thrivent Members and like hearted volunteers helped to build four homes across the region for families in need of safe and affordable housing. Faith Build homes were completed in Burlington, NJ, East Hartford, CT, Rochester, NY and Wappingers Falls, NY.
Thank you to all the churches and individuals who came together to raise walls, funds and prayers. You’ve helped these families open the door to a new life. We'll be building in Buffalo, Rochester, and New York City in 2020. Look for more details to come.
Members Gather for Fellowship and Service
More than 440 people attended member celebrations in four locations around the Thrivent Member Network - Northeast Region. Attendees gathered to share a meal and hear an update on Thrivent and the region. They also took part in service projects like packing hygiene kits for Lutheran World Relief, writing messages of blessings on wood studs used to frame Habitat for Humanity Homes, assembling patient activity packs for Shriners Hospital for Children and donating needed supplies for a local animal sanctuary.
Members Make An Impact on Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is one of the biggest, boldest days for fundraising across the globe. In an effort to help those filled with fear, summoning courage and seeking safety, Thrivent Members and friends donated over $12,800 during the Northeast Member Network's Giving Tuesday initiative to support Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service and the Emmanuel Gospel Center's Intercultural Ministries.
Thrivent aplified that effort with an additional $6,400 contribution between those two organizations. That's over $19,000 of financial support fo these two non-profits. Nationally, over $440,000 was raised by Thrivent Member Networks for 35 different charities.
Thrivent Is Ministry Partner of Soulfest
Soulfest is a three-day Christian Music Festival that takes place at Gunstock Mountain Resort in New Hampshire in early August. Last summer’s event was marked by spectacular weather, beautiful scenery, awesome music and lots of cool activities under the Thrivent tent.
Boards were blessed and birdhouses built for Habitat for Humanity homes, personal hygiene kits were packed for a local charity, financial workshops were offered, and members enjoyed special ticket discounts and on-site hospitality.
Though Soulfest 2020 has been canceled due to Covid19 safety concerns, we’re looking forward to Soulfest 2021.
